Callies Compstar BBC 4.25 crank 4340 that has had the rods turned .010 under. Does it need to be renitrided? What is the usual depth of hardness on a factory new crank? I notice a lot of builds with Clevite "H" series bearings for large radius journals. Any other's preferable or equal/ better value? Durability for long life mild blown lake cruiser is a priorty. Is it common practice to order several sets of bearings mixing and matching with .0001 over or under to achieve spot on clearance or is that really more of a max effort high end race motor deal?
