[Question] intake manifold upgrade?

I have to replace my intake manifold gaskets because they're leaking. While I'm in there, I'm considering replacing the intake manifold. In a couple of years, I plan to rebuild the motor for more horsepower so I will have to replace the intake manifold then anyway. I'm wondering, if I replace it now, will it improve my performance until then or should I just wait? Also, are there any other low dollar improvements I can do now that could help increase performance in the interim ie: ignition, air cleaner, etc? The motor is a stock 454 with about 600 hours on it. W.O.T. is about 5100 RPMs. It's a 1993 28' Silhouette deck boat cat-hull with a Bravo 1 out-drive and weighs about 4000 lbs. I'm interested in all pros or cons and look forward to your opinions
