Hydro history

My friend bought a hydroplane from San Diego. It is now in Nanaimo Bc canada and we are trying to find out any background information or racing history on the boat. Has no power now and we are trying to find out what seadoo power plant was in the boat so if anyone has any ideas of how we can find out or recognize it please email me at rib@telus.net thanks very much
