While setting the gearlash on my old (17% od). casale some months ago i wondered why the conical gear is on the lower shaft, as this shaft takes all the thrust but also sets the gear lash.
Id expected that the straight gear would be on the thrust shaft so anny axial play (axial lash) would not affect the gear lash.
Am i wrong or my gears?
