Berk Suction

mardi 31 mars 2015

Gentlemen, My Berk Suction just forward of the Impeller is

breaking away. My thrust bearing didn't let go & the clearances were

set right by CP Performance. Not sure what caused this, but what are

the options for replacing the original piece? Is there a big difference between

suctions from different manufacturers & which ones will bolt up to a JG bowl?

Just wanted to get my research done before pulling the trigger on a new/used

piece.........

Blower HUB, no damper, timing.

Ok..

Seen some engines on here like mine with no Damper, Blower application, blower hub..

Now,,,,, how do you time your engine.?

I seen some have timing marks on the fly-wheel? Are these fly-wheels sold like these or does the engine builder add the timing marks?

I was thinking, TDC on #1, and scribe my timing marks on my Wheel, intstall a pointer, and go from there....

anyone have any better ideas? little degree wheel behind the lower blower pulley, in front of the blower hub...?

CFW South Shore Open?

A handful of us may head up to CFW to play Saturday if South Shore is open. I tried calling and nobody answered at North shore, anybody know if South Shore will be open? We were there a month ago and the water level was nearly full, hoping it still is.... Thanks all!!

Hydroflite prop spacing

As I am changing about 100 things at a time on the Hydroflite, I took a close look at the prop spacing from the strut. From all accounts, I believe the prop should be sitting about 3/8 back from the strut face, with some adjustments made with nickels.

....well, mine measures 1.245" from the prop collar to the strut face, which is a bit on the excessive side. I'm kinda wondering if the whirl-away was added and the prop shaft was never shortened, does that make sense?

anyways, if I shorten the shaft I'm curious how much I should take off. I'm leaning towards removing 1" total, to get to a 1/4" spacing, with a nickel or two added just to see what happens.

Does all this sound reasonable?

Got my project all stripped and am now working to get it all ready for paint. What is the best bet to fix these similar but different scenarios?

1- spider cracks. Not sure if they go through the gel or not. My intent was to grind a V into the areas, fill with resin, then blend. BUT I'm will to do what the pros tell me.

2- Holes in dash from previous owners. My intent was to tape bottom side, fill with resin, sand. Again, I'll do what I'm told.

3- CRACK. So this travels across the back, and then terminates at a hole where the chute pack bolts on. I'm really not sure what to do here
