Time for a new bullet

When I got my 21 Commander it ran ok and really only needed an interior. Granted, it only went 55 downhill both ways, but the wife is beyond going fast on the water, so nothing was done performance-wise. There still aren't any engine problems, but I've had it on the water for 5 years and know NOTHING about the internals which kinda bugs me. The past few trips out to the Shack the plan was to pull the engine, drag it back home and rebuild it.

Well, now we're into March and the last thing I need is a schedule or build issue keeping it off the water, so I came up with Plan B.

If you read between the lines, you noticed the 55 mph is an issue for me (well, not "officially" ;)), so I found a D9TE block with a fresh .030" overbore. We picked it up on the way home tonite, so parts will be ordered tomorrow. Why did I want a D9 block? 'Cuz it's a little added insurance when you run a 4.5" stroker crank. Oops, did I say stroker? So, a .030 over, 4.5" stroke BBF makes it a 545. I don't need all that, but ya know it's just nice to have when you DO need it. Don't need the P51 heads either, but what the wife doesn't know..... When it's done I'll drag it out to the Shack and do a quick swap with minimal downtime.

It's going to be a little under carbed and under cammed so it'll live a few seasons and be reliable. That's the story I told the wife and I'm sticking to it..... More details as work progresses.
