So, way back in 2005 I bought myself a jet boat. YAY! exciting day. It was in piss poor shape, but ran and thats all I cared about. So I cleaned her up best I could and use her for 2 years before the boat started coming apart at the seams. I had started a build thread on HotBoat back in the day. Wish I could bump that old thread but I cant so here's a new and improved version.
Here she is the day I brought her home. It was a super happy day.
In 07 I decided to replace the stinky old carpet and thats when the deal unraveled. What started as a weekend project turned into 7 years of patience, one divorce, and a move.
Decided to gut it and start from scratch again. Todd at TRG was very kind at working with my extemely limited budget and helped fix up the hammered stringers and I build and installed the false bottom.
This project was a huge learning curve and I had a lot of "Firsts." This was my first time installing carpet so it has some parts that I'd like to do better it looks a lot nicer than the old stuff that was in there.
At this point I was stoked, tossed the engine in and headed to the lake. Well the engine started makign noises so I took her home and popped the oil pan off to take a look at the bearings to see what sort of mess I had... What I found was a trip, there was a windage tray washer floating around in the bottom end that looked pretty beat up. Not sure how long it had been there. Also found the cam didn't have the button that kept the cam from walking back and fourth. So the lifter had started working its way into the cam.... Engine was toast.
Here's the number 1 main bearing.

The longest build of my life.
