| Shameless Plug for a Cause 10/27/2014 0 Comments This weekend we did a little out of state traveling up to Georgia we did a visit with family and some scoping out of potential boating trips. First we checked out Reed Bingham Park in Adel, Georgia. Adel is home to my sister. This is a lovely park with beautiful camping and hiking. A while ago they used to host boating events and speed boat drag races but do to water level changes and much debris on the bottom the ranger station let me know power boating is not recommended. Next I headed up the highway an hour and visited Lake Blacksheer State Park. This is another beautiful park with camping, hiking trails, a veteran’s museum, playgrounds and three boat ramps. There is wonderful lodging with an inn, condos and cabins. The staff at the park let us know that Chaparral holds a spring event at this park and test drives their new boats there as well. This would be one we’d like to investigate more and report back could be coming up soon. Now on to the “Shameless Plug for a Cause” the The Boating Toys for Tots Tour 2014. This event is held in Palatka, Florida and the toys serve that local community. This will be our sixth year participating in the event. It’s a two day event with a fun run Friday and the toy drive Saturday. The boats run the St. John’s River and people attend from states near and far. There are evening events fellowshipping and dining with fellow boaters. If you’ve never participate in a community event before this is a worthy event benefitting the kids for the holidays. Loads of fun this event is geared mainly for adults we do bring along our son but don’t participate in all the evening activities as they are not appropriate for the kids.
